PARISH GROUPS

The Parish Council: This is the primary directive and visionary body of the Assumption of the BVM Parish. The council provides a voice for parishioners and sets parish goals with the pastor through meetings, typically on the third Thursday, every other month, or as needed. Please contact:

Matt Cunningham, matt@vetoutletnm.com.

Lectors: Volunteers should be parishioners with the ability to speak out clearly and proclaim the readings during the Liturgy of the Word; one must also be sixteen years old or older. Training is required and provided. If you are interested, please contact:

the church office, assumptionbvm@hotmail.com or 575-622-9895.

Altar Servers:  Being an altar server is a great way for a young person to participate actively in the Mass, take a leadership role in the church, and serve the parish and the priest. The ministry of altar serving gives our youth a way to increase their faith, their knowledge of the Mass and the Eucharist, and their understanding of what it means to be a Catholic. The altar servers in our parish find great satisfaction in being part of the Mass, and they find deeper meaning in serving God and the church. If you are interested in learning more about being an altar server, contact:

Evelyn Kresyman or the Assumption Church office (assumptionbvm@hotmail.com or 575-622-9895).

Altar & Rosary Society: The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary is known by this name throughout the world. In the United States, however, local chapters of the Confraternity were often established in parishes under the name “Rosary Altar Society” or “Rosary & Altar Society” or other similar names. Although the names varied, these parish Rosary societies were almost always chartered formally by the Confraternity. In our parish, the society is not limited to women. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact:

Elizabeth Pritchard, eamichael01@gmail.com.

Food For Funerals: The Food For Funerals group raises funds for and helps to host funeral receptions in our hall. At this time, they serve light refreshments such as cheese and vegetable trays and beverages but are also ready to help serve catered or potluck-style receptions. If you would like to help the FFF group, you can donate money in the box near the south end of the church, or contact:

Marty Garcia, marty.garcia1105@gmail.com.

Assumption Sanctity of Life Ministry: This ministry promotes and defends the sanctity of life from conception until death according to the teachings of the Catholic Church through prayer, service, and education. The ASLM leads, coordinates, and participates in various activities, including fundraising efforts for the local Pregnancy Resource Center, which provides alternatives to pregnant women in distress. Additionally, the ASLM strives to educate the faithful on church teaching concerning marriage and family. For more information, please contact the group leader:
