ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. A St. Andrew Dinner for Vocations is being sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces on Friday, March 28, in our parish. All young men who are high school seniors, college-aged, and young adults, are exclusively invited to this event. RSVPs are due on March 23rd. Please check the flyer in the bulletins and on the bulletin boards for more info.
2. The CRS Rice Bowl is a program that runs in schools and parishes, providing funding for Catholic Relief Services’ food security projects. These projects support agriculture, nutrition, education, and self-sufficiency in communities around the world. Twenty-five percent of the collection is retained in the diocese for anti-poverty programs. For the CRS website, see the flyer on the bulletin boards, and don’t forget to pick up your rice bowl. It will be available in the back of the church after Masses on Wednesday, March 5, as well as the following weekend. The Youth Faith Formation students will also be collecting for this fund.
3. Thank you to those who have completed their UIM pledge! We are humbled by your generosity and support of the Diocese of Las Cruces 2025 United in Ministry Appeal. Your sacrificial generosity to the UIM Appeal truly bears witness to our faith in action and the role of the Church as the essential service of hope to those in need.
If you haven’t yet made a commitment, we still have forms available on tables in the back of the church and boxes for you to place them in. If you need help with the QR code or with the form, please call or come to the office, and we will help you. Thank you for all your donations, and God bless you!
4. On Wednesday we are celebrating Ash Wednesday. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation, but we encourage you to participate in the Mass at 12:10 PM or 6 PM. There will be no 11:45 reconciliation on this day.
5. There will be a second collection on Ash Wednesday to aid the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection offers assistance in rebuilding the church in Eastern Europe. It usually focuses on training seminarians and lay leaders; supporting social service programs, youth ministries, pastoral and catechetical centers, and schools; construction and renovation of churches; evangelization; and uniting the Diocese and Universal Church by collective outreach.
6. Every Friday during Lent, we will have two Stations of the Cross: after 12:10 PM Mass and at 6 PM. We will not have a homily on Fridays so that those who attend Mass during lunchtime can participate in the Stations of the Cross.
7. Next weekend, the Assumption Youth Group will be taking orders for essential oils and scented candles after all Masses. This fundraiser will be used for upcoming trips and events.
8. If you are a family, or know a family, who needs help with rebuilding or replacing furniture after the flooding, we still have some money available for assistance. Please contact the parish office with relevant details, and the parish team will get back to you.
Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
