ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
Youth Faith Formation
Youth Faith Formation is for children in Kindergarten through Confirmation. We also have classes for children who need Baptism and First Communion.
August 21: YFF Parent meetings
6:00 pm for parents of students in Kindergarten through Grade 6
6:45 pm for parents of Confirmation students
Classes are on Wednesdays from 6 – 7 pm for Kindergarten through Confirmation, beginning August 28. Our first class will be our beginning of the year Mass followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Parents and families are encouraged to join us for Mass and the reception. Come meet your children’s Catechists.
Older students needing Baptism: OCIC (Order of Christian Initiation for Children) is for students, 7 years old and older, who have not yet been baptized. This is a two-year program. Classes are 5:15 pm – 6 pm. OCIC students will also attend class with their peer group in the same grade at 6 pm.
For students older than 3rd grade and in their second year of youth faith formation but still needing First Holy Communion, there will be a 10-week program with classes in the spring from 5:15 – 6:00 pm. This will be in addition to the peer grade class at 6 pm.
We begin in grades one through six with the textbook series “Finding God: Our Response to God’s Gift with Family Catechesis”. We hope to help parents grow in their faith while they guide their children in core faith formation.
First Holy Communion preparation is a two-year program, usually in grades two and three.
Confirmation preparation is a two-year program, usually in grades seven and eight. Confirmation classes teach the essentials and key teaching of the four pillars of the Catholic faith: faith, liturgy/sacraments, life in Christ, and prayer. We hope to prepare students intellectually and spiritually for the Sacrament of Confirmation and to build lifelong disciples of Christ.

Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
