ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH

Parish Announcements for the Week of 1/8/23

January 9, 2023
  1. On behalf of Fr. Ephraim and myself, I would like to thank all parishioners for the Christmas cards, gifts and, especially, the delicious Christmas goodies. Thank you so much for your love and support. Many blessings to all of you.
  2. On Monday we celebrate “The Baptism of the Lord”. We will have a 12:10 Mass this day.
  3. Because all 2023 calendars were distributed, we ordered more. They will soon be available.
  4. All couples married in the Catholic Church celebrating their Paper (1st), Silver (25th), Gold (50th), or 50-plus wedding anniversary in 2023 are invited to attend a Mass at St. Peter Parish in Roswell on Saturday, February 11, 2023, or at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces on Saturday, February 25, 2023, and receive a blessing from Bishop Peter Baldacchino. Couples wishing to celebrate these milestone anniversaries must register with their Pastor no later than January 10, 2023, and provide him with a Certificate of Marriage from the Catholic parish where the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony was celebrated, or a recent Baptism Certificate (within the last 6 months) with notations on the back of the Certificate indicating the marriage is recognized by the Church. Please contact Fr. Jarek with any questions.
  5. World Youth Day Raffle Tickets are available in the Parish Office.
  6. Western Sky Community Care is offering the Online Stress-Busting Program for Family Caregivers of Persons with Chronic Illness™. This program is designed for unpaid or partially paid family/natural caregivers who provide care for an adult living with a chronic illness. For more information, please check the flyer on the bulletin board.
  7. One of the parishioners lost keys in the church last Sunday. If anyone has found them, please contact the parish office.
  8. One family is willing to donate a truck to a parishioner who needs it. It is a 2002 Ford Ranger. It has over 180,000 miles and needs some work. It has transmission problems and is leaking oil. If someone really needs the vehicle, please contact the parish office.
  9. Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. I will bless the chalk to mark our doors. The letters have two meanings: they stand for the three wisemen, Magi, Caspar, Malchior, and Balthazar, and also for Christus mansionem benedicat, that is, Christ bless this house. The numbers indicate the current year. Instructions with the prayer to mark house doors can be found in the parish bulletin.
