ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH

Announcements for the Week of 1/26/2025

January 27, 2025

1. The ushers will now take the collection for Las Cruces Diocese Catholic Schools. Thank you for all your donations!

2. All couples married in the Catholic Church celebrating their Paper (1st), Silver (25th), Gold (50th), or 50-plus wedding anniversary in 2025, are invited to attend a Mass at St. Peter Parish in Roswell on Wednesday, February 12 at 5:30 PM, or at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces on Thursday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m., to receive a blessing from Bishop Peter Baldacchino. Couples wishing to celebrate these milestone anniversaries must register with their parish priest no later than January 31 and provide him with a Certificate of Marriage from the Catholic parish where the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony was celebrated, or a recent baptism certificate (within the last 6 months) with notations on the back of the certificate indicating the marriage is recognized by the Church. For questions, call the parish office.

3. Next weekend on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, we invite all parishioners to bring their candles to be blessed at each Mass. This special tradition symbolizes Jesus as the “Light of the World” and allows us to take this light into our homes throughout the year.

4. On Sunday, February 2nd, at the 11 AM Mass, Fr. Jarek will celebrate the Mass for Assumption parishioners and also for youth and young adults and will offer them a special blessing.

5. If you have special prayer requests, we will pray for these petitions on Fridays during Adoration. If someone is sick, we will pray for them by name at Adoration, as well as at the First Saturday 9:30 AM Mass. Please call the parish office, and we will add your petition to the list.

6. On February 11, our parish will host a blood drive by Vitalant in the parish hall. Please see the flyer on the bulletin boards for more information on how you can schedule an appointment to give blood, platelets, or plasma and receive a gift card.

7. We need volunteers for various ministries in our parish, such as being an usher, lector, or taking Holy Communion to the homebound. If you would like to be a helper, please call the office for more information, or stop by and pick up a volunteer application.

8. On February 8 and 9, the Bethlehem Holy Land Group will sell articles from the Holy Land after Masses. This is a good opportunity to purchase gifts for Confirmation or First Holy Communion students while helping Christians in the Holy Land.

9. Now, we will have an announcement from All Saints Catholic School.
