ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. The A&R Society needs volunteers to make soups and baked goods for the Altar & Rosary Christmas Bazaar. People can bring their baked goods as well as soups in crockpots on Friday, November 15 from 9 to 5, and on Saturday the 16th starting at 8 AM. Also, they are still selling raffle tickets, which are available in the parish office.
2. Chaves County Federated Republican Women will partner with our parish to hold a Veterans’ Lunch on Wednesday, November 20, at 11:30 AM in the church hall. If you are a veteran and can attend, you will be our guest for a free brisket lunch, drink, and dessert. You will receive a certificate and be presented with a special gift. Veterans, please provide the parish secretary with your name, branch of service, and phone number. For others who would like to attend, the cost of lunch is $17. Please RSVP by November 13.
3. The annual Mt. Cristo Rey Pilgrimage is scheduled for Saturday, November 23. For more information, please check the poster.
4. Please check the bulletin boards for Catholic Daughters of the Americas’ information about “White Ribbons Against Pornography”.
5. If you are in need after the recent flood, we may be able to help monetarily. Please call the parish office and give your name, contact information, and situation. We will ask that you provide an insurance or FEMA report.
5. Next weekend, we will take the second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. This collection addresses the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations and transformative education. Thank you for all your support.
7. Fr. Jarek’s surgery on Thursday went well. Thank you for all your prayers and support! We hope to see him back soon, but he will need continued prayer for the recovery time.
Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
