ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. A very special THANK YOU to our youth Confirmation Class students who helped serve last Sunday at the UIM Luncheon. You did a fantastic job! Thank you!!!
2.
The Altar & Rosary Society will be having a membership tea on tomorrow/today, from 2 to 4 PM in the parish hall. Please join! The tea was canceled due to winter weather.
3. The Good Samaritan needs blankets! They are requesting new or gently used blankets that have been washed. If you would like to donate, bring them to the Assumption office. Thank you!
4. Thank you to those who have completed their UIM pledge! We are humbled by your generosity and support of the Diocese of Las Cruces 2024 United in Ministry Appeal. Your sacrificial generosity to the UIM Appeal truly bears witness to our faith in action and the role of the Church as the essential service of hope to those in need. Thank you and God bless you!
5. On Wednesday we are celebrating Ash Wednesday. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation but I encourage you to participate in the Mass at 12:10 PM or 6 PM. Every Friday during Lent we will have two Stations of the Cross: after 12:10 PM Mass and at 6 PM. On Friday, February 23rd, we will start Lenten Sessions “The Seven Pillars of Catholicism” at 7 PM in the Parish Library. More details will be provided next weekend.
6. This Lent, be transformed—and transform the world—by practicing the pillars of Lent with your family: daily prayer, weekly fasting, and almsgiving.
Every Lent since 1975, millions of Catholics across the United States have come together through Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl to support people struggling with hunger and poverty—both at home and around the world.
Please take home a CRS Rice Bowl, located in the Church foyer. Each Rice Bowl has a Lenten calendar that offers short reflections for each day of Lent. Beginning Ash Wednesday, and during the 40 days of Lent, please fill your Rice Bowl with donations.
7. It is that time of year when Assumption parishioners gather the food for the nuns at Poor Clare Monastery. A list of needed items will be provided in the bulletin and online. Bring your items and place them in the boxes in the Church foyer. We will collect food from next weekend February 17 to February 25. You can also bring items during the week as the church is open from 8-5. Please remember the Poor Clares take a vow of poverty and rely on OUR GENEROSITY to help them with their needs.
Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
