ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. After Mass, St. John's will be selling tickets for their annual raffle that will take place at their parish feast on September 22.
2. This year, Order of Christian Initiation for Adults will start on Tuesday, September 24. It is for non-Catholic adults who are interested in Catholicism, and for baptized Catholic adults who have not been confirmed. If you would like to take part in OCIA, pick up an application at the Parish Office, or call, and the Secretary will send one to you via email. You can also find it on the website under Parish Info: Forms.
3. The Adult Education class meets on Thursdays at 6 PM and will be starting up again on September 19. This year, the class will be studying the Gospel of John through the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. This is a great opportunity to increase your knowledge of your faith. If you have any questions or would like to register to join, please call the Parish Office.
4. On Sunday, September 8, we will have our rescheduled Parish Fiesta (please mark your calendar and plan to participate). We will have hot dogs, drinks, snow cones, delicious popcorn, face-painting, games, the Assumption Train, and water slides. Parents bring children's swimwear!!!
5. Youth Faith Formation registration is still being accepted in the Church office. Registration closes on September 6.
6. The parish office will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day but as usual, there will be the Flame of Love Rosary at 12:10 PM.
7. Because I will have a biopsy on Tuesday in Albuquerque, the 12:10 PM Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Larry.
8. Next weekend we will have the Catholic University Second Collection which is the national research university of the Catholic Church. Gifts to the National Collection — the only second collection taken for higher education in the U.S. — support students during this crucial time and help the university conduct critical research that will serve parishes and dioceses throughout the country. Thank you for your support and donations!!!
Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
