ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. The book “This is My Body” is ready to pick up. Those families who signed up for a free copy please come after Mass to the priest’s sacristy to pick up your copy, or you can pick it up at the parish office during office hours.
2. All couples married in the Catholic Church celebrating their Paper (1st), Silver (25th), Gold (50th), or 50-plus wedding anniversary in 2024, are invited to attend a Mass at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., and at St. Peter Parish in Roswell on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., and receive a blessing from Bishop Peter Baldacchino. Couples wishing to celebrate these milestone anniversaries only, must register with their Parish Priest no later than January 25, 2024, and provide him with a Certificate of Marriage from the Catholic parish where the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony was celebrated, or a recent Baptism Certificate (within the last 6 months) with notations on the back of the Certificate indicating the marriage is recognized by the Church. It is the last chance to be registered.
3. Volunteers from the Sanctity of Life Ministry will have beautiful, red carnations available for donation after Mass. All proceeds go to the Chaves County Citizens for Life Organization for the protection of women and the unborn. Thank you for your support and donations!
4. As every year in January, we will begin the United In Ministry Appeal. Next Saturday & Sunday, we will have an “Introduction Weekend”. On Sunday, February 4th after the 11 AM Mass, we will have a UIM Luncheon, during which we will present data from last year and a report on how the campaign funds are used. During the meeting, there will also be an opportunity to make donations: cash, card, using the phone or a QR code. Parishioners who plan to attend are asked to notify the parish office by January 29 so that we can prepare enough food for everyone.
5. Next weekend, we will have a second Collection for the Church in Latin America. This collection will support pastoral programs throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Projects include the work of evangelization, formation of laity, religious and seminarians, as well as youth ministry and catechesis. Thank you for your generosity!
Under the patronage of Our Lady, and centered around the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, we will work together to spread Gospel values and the truth of the Catholic faith by living as examples of virtue, and in service to our church and community.
