ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH

Parish Announcements for the Week of 12/17/2023

December 18, 2023

1. On the bulletin boards, we posted the “Sisters of Jesus the Savior” Mother General Letter of Appreciation. The sisters collected $3500 in our parish. Thank you for your donations!

2. Please listen to the announcement from Mother Mary Angela, Poor Clair Monastery Abbess:

We are delighted to share with you the news that the Apostolic Penitentiary in Rome has graciously granted our request, made with the consent of our dear Bishop Peter Baldacchino, to grant a plenary indulgence to anyone who, under the usual conditions, makes a visit to our monastery chapel on any day between November 13, 2023, and November 13, 2024. “The sick and all those who are unable to physically participate can equally benefit from the gift of the plenary indulgence, offering their sufferings to the Lord or carrying out practices of compassion.” We are so deeply grateful for the Church’s great gift of mercy which we can now offer to our friends in a special way in honor of our jubilee year of foundation.

For more information from the monastery, please check the bulletin board.

3. On Monday, December 18 at 6 PM, we will have the Parish Advent Reconciliation Service. We encourage you to come and prepare your heart for Christmas.

4. This year, Christmas Eve is celebrated on Sunday evening, December 24. Please remember that because it is Sunday, it is not enough to attend one Mass on Sunday at 5:30 PM to fulfill the obligation to participate in both Sunday and Christmas Mass. We must attend Sunday Mass separately and attend a second Mass for Christmas. Christmas Eve Mass will be at 5:30 PM, followed by Midnight Mass. Christmas Day Masses will be celebrated at 9 and 11 AM.

5. I would like to thank Deacon Lonnie for the retreat sermon during this Mass, and we invite all the faithful to participate in [Sunday’s] conferences in the parish hall from 2 - 5 PM.
